The Police Ombudsman receives and investigates complaints against the police made by members of the public, and also matters of public interest involving the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). Where appropriate he makes recommendations in respect of criminal, disciplinary and misconduct matters, in respect of which he may also publish reports and make policy recommendations. The Senior Finance Officer reports to the Finance Manager and will assist in ensuring there is strong financial management within the Office. A major challenge now facing public bodies is tighter financial constraints, which is placing an increased importance on good financial management. In addition, there is greater scrutiny over public funds and as a result organisations are required to make financial information more widely available. Successful candidates will be required to submit for security clearance to CTC level. The Office fosters a hard-working, productive environment that encourages professional development and teamwork in achieving robust performance targets.
